Merlyn D. McCallister, a 51-year-old man from Hillside, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on March 14, 2021, while walking his dog in the 1700 block of North Major on Chicago's West Side. Merlyn, who immigrated from Barbados in 1989, was a beloved husband to Rosie and a loving father to three children: Mara, Merlin, and Matthew. He had been working the same construction job since the 1990s and was known as a dedicated family man.
