Timothy T. Devine, a 48-year-old white male, was a dedicated patrolman with the Chicago Police Department. On the early morning of August 11, 1902, Devine and his partner, Patrolman Charles F. Pennell, were on duty in the Near West Side of Chicago. The officers were following two burglary suspects when they were ambushed by gunfire at 1622 West Jackson Boulevard.
