Clarence Whalum, a 22-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on October 5, 2021, in Country Club Hills, Illinois. Clarence and his younger brother, Kimani Whalum, aged 20, were victims of a fatal home invasion. The incident occurred in their residence on Farmcrest Trail around 7:30 p.m. when police responded to a call reporting a home invasion. Upon arrival, officers found both brothers with gunshot wounds. They were transported to local hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead.

The details surrounding the incident reveal that Clarence was walked into his home at gunpoint by an unknown assailant while his brother Kimani was asleep. The intruder then shot both brothers in front of their grandparents, who were present in the house. The mother of the victims, Traci Rogers, expressed her devastation and confusion over the senseless act, stating that her sons were not involved in any trouble and were typical young men who loved their family and friends.

Following the tragic event, an investigation was launched by the Country Club Hills police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. On December 17, 2021, De Armani Green, a 21-year-old male from Markham, Illinois, was arrested in connection with the murders. Green faces two counts of first-degree murder. The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the FBI and local law enforcement agencies. It remains unclear if Green acted alone or if there are additional suspects involved in the case.

The community and the family of Clarence and Kimani Whalum continue to seek justice and answers for the brutal killings. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward. The loss of Clarence and Kimani has left a profound impact on their family, who are now left to cope with the aftermath of this tragic event.
