Dejah Bennet, a 22-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on March 12, 2022, in Dolton, Illinois. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Food 4 Less store, where Dejah Bennet was sitting in a car with her family. According to police reports, her 3-year-old son found a gun in the back seat of the car and began playing with it. The weapon discharged, striking Dejah Bennet in the neck.
