Middleton Pierce Harwell, a 53-year-old Caucasian male, met a tragic end on March 25, 1905, in Atlanta, Georgia. Harwell, who served as a Special Officer for the Western and Atlantic Railroad Police, was on duty when he encountered two men attempting to break into a railroad freight car under the Forsyth Street Viaduct.
