James Edward "Ed" Giddens, a 29-year-old white male, served as the Chief of Police in Ray City, Georgia. On February 11, 1976, his life was tragically cut short in a brutal murder. Chief Giddens was on duty when he stopped a speeding vehicle, unaware that the occupants had just committed an armed robbery in Adel, Georgia.
