James Richardson, a 34-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 19, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia. Richardson, who was serving as a sergeant with the Atlanta Police Department, was killed during a traffic stop at the intersection of McDaniel and Peters Streets. On that fateful day, Richardson, while undercover and driving an unmarked car, witnessed two individuals harassing a female gas station attendant.
