Gwendolyn B. Wyche, a 42-year-old African American woman, was tragically murdered on July 30, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia. Gwendolyn, the daughter of Rev. Otis Levan Blackshear and Mrs. Rena R. Blackshear, was shot multiple times in the back just outside her home. Despite being rushed to DeKalb Medical Center, she could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
