On August 4, 2016, 24-year-old Shanna Smith was shot and killed in southwest Atlanta in a case of mistaken identity. After finishing her shift at an Amazon warehouse, she drove a co-worker home and was ambushed by gang members who mistakenly targeted her vehicle. Investigators found her slumped in her BMW, which had been riddled with bullets from multiple weapons, including AR-15 rifles.
