Mary L. Chambers, a 64-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed on May 15, 2014, in Hazlehurst, Georgia. On that evening, Hazlehurst Police Officers and Jeff Davis County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a residence on Harrison Nook following reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Mary L. Chambers and her son, Javonnie Mondrae Chambers, 41, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
