In the early morning hours of May 29, 2014, the body of 25-year-old Terrance Vanderrick Dent Jr., known to some as 'Heavy D,' was discovered on Granada Terrace in Macon, Georgia. It was approximately 3:38 a.m. when he was found, but the investigation would soon reveal that this was not where his life had ended. Dent had been shot in the 3000 block of Fairburn Avenue and his body was moved to the location where it was later found.
He was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he died about half an hour after the shooting.
Initially, law enforcement treated Dent's death as a separate homicide investigation. However, the very next day, the bodies of 23-year-old Arika Jarrell and 32-year-old Ralph Heard were found in a vehicle behind a residence on Fairburn Avenue, the same street where Dent had been shot. As investigators delved deeper, they began to connect the dots between the three deaths, realizing they were not isolated incidents but were tragically intertwined. The investigation led to the conclusion that all three victims were killed during a 'robbery gone wrong'.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office sought to interview two persons of interest, Tyrone Lewis, 34, and Vincent Lewis, 36, both of Macon, believing they might have information about the killings. The investigation progressed, and eventually, four men were arrested and charged in connection with the triple homicide. The suspects were identified as Rayshawn 'Ping' Reanaldo Lucas, 32, Quintavious 'Quinn' Isaih Everett, 22, Vincent 'White Boy' Lewis, 36, and Lewis Monroe Cheney II, 30. Cheney was the fourth suspect to be apprehended, taken into custody in July 2014 following a Crime Stoppers tip. He was charged with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
In February 2019, three of the men faced sentencing for their roles in the deaths of Jarrell and Heard, which were directly linked to Dent's murder. Vincent Lewis pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter, two counts of racketeering, and four counts of violating Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, receiving a sentence of 40 years, with the first 30 to be served in prison. Quintavious Isaih Everett pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering and three counts of violating the state's street gang act, among other charges, and was sentenced to 20 years with the first 10 to be served in prison. Rayshaun Reanaldo Lucas pleaded guilty to racketeering, violating the street gang act, and possession of contraband by an inmate, also receiving a sentence of 20 years with the first 10 to be served in prison. The case against the fourth man, Lewis Monroe Cheney II, was still pending at that time.
