In the early morning hours of July 20, 2014, a night out in Rome, Georgia, turned fatal for Wreno Dantoine Fain, a 28-year-old male. The events unfolded shortly after midnight at a nightclub known as the 'Lexus Lounge.' Fain had just arrived at the club with a friend, Christopher Robinson. While Robinson waited in his Jeep, Fain went inside. A few minutes later, the sound of three gunshots pierced the night.
Fain emerged from the club and made his way to the passenger side of Robinson's vehicle, stating he had been shot and needed to go to the hospital. As Robinson moved to help his wounded friend into the Jeep, he saw a man, later identified as Jamal Nevin Foreman, approaching them with a gun. Foreman aimed the weapon at Robinson and pulled the trigger, but the gun either jammed or misfired. Foreman then moved around the front of the vehicle and fired several shots at Fain, who fell to the ground.
Following an investigation into the shooting, Jamal Foreman was arrested and charged with the murder of Wreno Dantoine Fain. Two eyewitnesses identified Foreman as the shooter, and he also confessed to the crime. In February 2017, a Floyd County jury found Foreman guilty of malice murder, reckless conduct, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
For the murder of Wreno Dantoine Fain, the court sentenced Jamal Foreman to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He also received concurrent 12-month sentences for the reckless conduct and unlawful discharge convictions, and a consecutive five-year sentence for a firearm possession offense. Foreman later appealed his convictions, arguing insufficiency of evidence and ineffective legal counsel. However, the Supreme Court of Georgia found no reversible error and affirmed the convictions.
