Derricus Whatley, a 40-year-old African American male from Rome, Georgia, tragically lost his life on July 3, 2022. The incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. on Tolbert Street at North Avenue in North Rome. Initially reported as an automobile accident with an injury, it was later discovered that Derricus Whatley had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
