In the fall of 2016, a quiet neighborhood in Decatur, Georgia, was unsettled by the sudden and violent death of 74-year-old Melvin Cleveland. On the afternoon of Friday, November 18, Mr. Cleveland was at his home on Kings Park Way where he had resided for four decades. A retired General Motors employee, he had recently been diagnosed with dementia, yet his family maintained that he was of clear mind.
