The 23-year-old African American male from Hempstead, New York, was discovered shot to death in a vacant lot on Holden Drive on April 9, 2017. Initially, his identity was a mystery to local authorities. It was through the distinctive tattoos on his body, images of which were released to the public, that a connection was finally made.
Someone who saw the images online alerted his mother in New York, who then contacted the coroner to confirm the heartbreaking news that the victim was her son. Unbeknownst to his family, he had traveled to Augusta, possibly to visit friends.
