In the late spring of 2017, the life of a young Augusta, Georgia man was cut short in a sequence of events that began with a gunshot and ended in tragedy two days later. Stephen Edward Moton, a 24-year-old African American male, was initially wounded by a gunshot to his leg on May 14, 2017. Following the shooting, he was hospitalized and underwent surgery for his injuries. He was subsequently discharged and returned home, but his recovery was tragically brief.
