In the early afternoon of a Wednesday in Augusta, Georgia, a fatal encounter unfolded outside the Richmond Summit apartments, abruptly ending the life of 41-year-old Quincy Clay Fields. On January 8, 2025, at approximately 3:23 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the 700 block of Broad Street, prompting a response from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Fields suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his chest.
Emergency medical services transported Quincy Clay Fields to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The incident marked the second homicide in Richmond County for the year. Investigators learned that both Fields and the man accused of shooting him were residents of the Richmond Summit apartments and were acquainted with each other. The circumstances that led to the deadly altercation are still under investigation.
In connection with the shooting, authorities arrested 62-year-old Victor Prince. He has since been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
