Rayquann Deonte Jernigan, a 17-year-old African American transgender male known to friends as Ava Le’Ray Barrin, was tragically killed on June 25, 2017, in Athens, Georgia. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Riverview Apartments on College Avenue, where Jernigan was shot by 21-year-old Jalen Breon Brown.
