In the early morning hours of Friday, December 8, 2017, the life of 33-year-old Lamarcus Jarrod Jones was tragically cut short in a burst of violence that shattered the pre-dawn quiet of a Milledgeville, Georgia, apartment complex. Jones, a male, was inside an apartment at the Cedaridge Apartments on Frank Bone Road when the fatal incident unfolded.
According to reports from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, the events began to unfold around 4:45 a.m.
An unknown individual or individuals attempted to gain entry into the apartment where Jones was located. When their attempt to enter the dwelling failed, they began shooting into the apartment from the outside. Both Jones and another man, identified as Reginald Deon Harris, were asleep inside at the time the gunfire erupted.
Tragically, Jones was struck by the hail of bullets and succumbed to his injuries inside the apartment. Harris was also shot, sustaining a wound to his arm. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in Macon for treatment of his injuries. In the immediate aftermath, investigators began their work, questioning Harris about the events that had transpired.
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office has been handling the investigation into the death of Lamarcus Jones. In the days following the shooting, authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for this violent act.
