In the winter of 2018, the life of a young woman, LaShay Shanea Ford, was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. A native of Canton, Ohio, the 25-year-old female was fatally wounded in a shooting that erupted on the evening of January 24th on Wickham Drive. Two other individuals were also injured in the incident but survived their wounds. Ford was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of the following day.
The investigation into the homicide
quickly pointed to a suspect, Reginald Jackson. Within days of the shooting, the Columbus Police Department had issued warrants for his arrest in connection with Ford's death. The search for Jackson extended beyond local jurisdictions and eventually led to his apprehension in February 2018 in Phenix City, Alabama, by the U.S. Marshals. He was subsequently extradited back to Columbus to face charges.
