On April 15, 2024, at 12:49 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to an incident in the 800 block of Morris Road in Columbus, Georgia. Upon arrival, they found a female, later identified as Jakesa Josey, age 30, deceased at the scene. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attempted to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful. Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allison pronounced Jakesa Josey deceased at 1:28 a.m. The cause of death was determined to be from apparent gunshot wound(s).
