Jakesa Shantrell Josey, a 30-year-old Black woman from Americus, died in Columbus, Georgia, on April 15, 2024, after a burst of violence in the overnight hours left her fatally wounded on Morris Road. Reports say Columbus police were called to the 800 block of Morris Road at about 12:49 a.m., where officers found her suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
