In the winter of 2018, the life of 12-year-old John 'Lil John' Cooksey Jr., an African American male, was tragically cut short in Savannah, Georgia. On the afternoon of February 3rd, while attending a funeral service at Bonaventure Funeral Home, gunfire erupted, and young John was struck. He was rushed to Memorial Health University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his wounds two days later, on February 5, 2018.
