In the early morning hours of November 14, 2020, a verbal altercation at a motel on Ogeechee Road in Savannah, Georgia, tragically escalated, ending the life of 40-year-old Richard Thomas Vinson. Savannah Police officers responded to a call at the Deluxe Inn at approximately 5 a.m. and discovered Mr. Vinson deceased in one of the guest rooms from a fatal shooting. The male victim was born on February 6, 1980.
An investigation into the incident revealed that a dispute between two men had preceded the deadly shooting. At the scene, police promptly identified and arrested a suspect, 37-year-old Micky Hamilton. Hamilton was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Chatham County jail on a charge of murder.
Following the initial arrest, the case proceeded through the legal system. A Chatham County grand jury later indicted Micky Hamilton on multiple murder charges in connection with the shooting death of Richard Vinson. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter at the Savannah motel.
