A quiet Sunday evening in Savannah was shattered by gunfire that claimed the life of 33-year-old Desmond Thomas Warren. The incident unfolded on September 15, 2019, at the intersection of West 39th and Burroughs streets. Officers from the Savannah Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert, a system that detects and locates gunfire, and discovered Warren suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
