In a tragic turn of events that cut a creative life short, Carey Alphonso Powers Jr., a 35-year-old African American fashion designer, was found deceased in his Georgetown Crossing apartment on King George Boulevard in Savannah, Georgia. The discovery was made on the evening of Friday, December 16, 2022. Responding to a call of shots fired, Chatham County police arrived at the scene to find Powers with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at his residence.
