In the early morning hours of November 27, 2015, tragedy struck at a gas station on Wheaton Street in Savannah, Georgia, ending the life of 29-year-old Mario Williams. The male victim was discovered in the parking lot of the business, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:02 a.m. and promptly established a crime scene to commence their investigation.
Witnesses at the gas station reported seeing suspects flee the area in a grey SUV immediately following the shooting. Law enforcement officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle, a grey 2009 Chevrolet HHR, at the intersection of Wilder Drive and Randolph Street. The investigation into the homicide quickly progressed, leading to the identification of two suspects.
In the weeks that followed the incident, the diligent work of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes detectives, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, resulted in the apprehension of two individuals. The first suspect, 26-year-old Brandon Miller, was arrested and charged with one count of felony murder and one count of robbery. Subsequently, 18-year-old Deandre Glover was also taken into custody and faced a charge of murder in connection with the shooting death of Mario Williams. Glover was considered armed and dangerous and was known to frequent Savannah's Westside.
