Lavar Moore, a 21-year-old Black man from Birmingham, Alabama, died on March 19, 2011, after he was found shot outside his home in the Ensley area. In the early-morning darkness, officers were called to 5305 Avenue I at about 3:40 a.m., where they discovered him lying in the grass beside the residence with a gunshot wound.
