On September 12, 2021, 31-year-old Maurice Dewayne Carter was fatally shot during an altercation in Center Point, Alabama. The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. at a residence in the 200 block of 18th Avenue N.W. Carter was transported to UAB Hospital with gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting stemmed from an argument that escalated into gunfire.
