On a Sunday morning, the life of 59-year-old Phillip Edward Lankford was tragically cut short. On February 5, 2023, his body was discovered near a stairwell at an apartment complex on Shadowood Circle NE in Center Point, Alabama. Lankford, a male, had been fatally shot. A graduate of Phillips High School, he was a skilled craftsman, adept in house building, home repair, and carpentry. He also had a passion for fishing.
Following an extensive investigation into the homicide, Jefferson County Sheriff's Detectives identified a suspect. Three days after the discovery of Lankford's body, on February 8, 2023, an arrest was made in connection with his death.
The individual taken into custody was 21-year-old Jacobye Bryan Green. He was subsequently charged with murder for his alleged role in the shooting death of Phillip Lankford. Green is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail in Birmingham without bond as he awaits legal proceedings.
