On a day meant for gratitude and family, Thanksgiving of 2022 turned into a tragedy for Theodore Alexander Hill, a 23-year-old male. The young man was at a holiday gathering in Center Point, Alabama, on the evening of November 24th when the festive atmosphere was shattered by the sound of gunfire. A vehicle drove past the residence in the 2400 block of 5th Street Northwest and shots were fired towards the home where Hill and others were gathered.
In the ensuing chaos, Theodore Alexander Hill and another individual, Marvin Arnold, went outside and returned fire at the passing vehicle. During this exchange, Hill was struck by a bullet. Tragically, it was later determined that the fatal shot was fired by Arnold. When Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene around 6:45 p.m., they found Hill unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the location.
The investigation into the shooting led to the arrest of Marvin Arnold. On December 16, 2022, Arnold was charged with reckless manslaughter in connection with Hill's death. He was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities stated that two families were tragically impacted by the events of that Thanksgiving night, one by the loss of a loved one and the other by the serious legal consequences of the incident.
