On April 26, 2016, Aaron Govostes, aged 42, was fatally shot in a home invasion at his residence in Pittsburgh's South Oakland neighborhood. Three intruders entered the home around 10:15 p.m., confronting Govostes’ mother, who was held at gunpoint and threatened by the intruders as they demanded money. Despite her cooperation, the men proceeded upstairs, where they confronted Govostes and shot him multiple times in the doorway of his home.
