On October 6, 2022, at approximately 4:38 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Charter East Apartments in Center Point, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Birmingham resident Calvin Maurice Chambers suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
