Tyra Garcia, aged 15, was reported missing on May 27, 1985, in Ventura, California, after being last seen getting into a car with two men at a local 7-Eleven. Her family, who believed that she hadn't run away, faced difficulties as authorities initially assumed she would return on her own. This assumption delayed the urgency of the search efforts.
