Seventeen-year-old Xantavian Pierce, a male junior at Brunswick High School, died on a Sunday in March 2018. Known affectionately as 'Tae' to his friends and family, he was a talented and well-liked student who excelled on both the basketball court and the football field.

The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon at the Eagle Point Apartments off Crispen Boulevard. Pierce was reportedly helping a relative move when a gun inside a box he was carrying accidentally discharged. He sustained a gunshot wound to his stomach. Emergency services were called, and he was rushed to the Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick Campus, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital.
The Glynn County Police Department investigated the shooting and quickly ruled it a tragic accident. There was no evidence to suggest any foul play or connection to other local incidents. In the wake of his death, the community mourned the loss of a young man with so much potential. His family described him as an outgoing person who loved his family and had a strong sense of faith.
