In the late afternoon of a summer day in Alapaha, Georgia, the life of 26-year-old Patricia Michelle Deboyd was tragically cut short. On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, law enforcement received a distressing call around 3:10 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 1300 block of Highway 158. Upon their arrival, deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff's Office discovered Ms. Deboyd's body. She had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Near the residence, authorities also found 30-year-old Roger Lee Tabor Jr. Following an initial investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which was called in to assist, Tabor was arrested in connection with Ms. Deboyd's death. He was subsequently taken to the Berrien County Jail.
The investigation led to a series of serious charges being filed against Tabor. These included malice murder, four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additionally, he faced three counts of child cruelty, indicating the possible presence of children during the violent incident.
Following his arrest, Roger Lee Tabor Jr. was held in the Berrien County Jail as the legal process began. Patricia Michelle Deboyd's body was sent to the GBI Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to formally determine the cause of death.
