On May 29, 1981, 22-year-old female victim Giselle Yvonne Clardy was found murdered in her bathtub at the Cherry Hill Apartments in Brookhaven, Georgia. Giselle Clardy, a white woman, was serving as the assistant manager of the apartment complex at the time of her death. Her body was discovered face down in the tub, and investigators determined she had been strangled. Evidence suggested she may have been sexually assaulted prior to the murder, a pattern that would later emerge in other cases.
