On a December evening in 2018, 19-year-old Aubria Foster was inside her boyfriend's home on Savannah Street in Newnan, Georgia, when her life was tragically cut short. A series of gunshots rang out from the street, and a bullet pierced through the wall of the house, striking and killing the young woman. Foster, a graduate of East Coweta High School, was found unresponsive on a couch in the living room just after 9 p.m. and was later pronounced dead at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Investigators found multiple bullet holes in the home's exterior and discovered spent shell casings in the street, indicating that numerous shots had been fired.
The initial investigation left police searching for suspects and a motive. Several other people were inside the house at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured. As the investigation progressed, a reward of up to $5,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest. Months later, in July 2019, authorities made two arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. The suspects were identified as Denarvious Kizavion Carter, 19, and Eric Snelling, 21.
Further investigation revealed that the shooting was not a random act of violence but was rooted in a gang-related dispute that had no connection to Aubria Foster. Authorities stated that Carter, an alleged member of the 'G-Shine Bloods' street gang, was retaliating for a previous incident that occurred in June 2018. Believing the person responsible for shooting at his gang-affiliated associate's mother's home resided at the Savannah Street address, Carter orchestrated the drive-by shooting. On the night of the incident, Snelling drove Carter to the location, where Carter fired at least ten shots into the residence.
In November 2022, Denarvious Kizavion Carter, also known as 'Lil' Baby,' pleaded guilty to felony murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving a minimum of 30 years. Eric Snelling, known as 'E-Rokk,' also pleaded guilty to several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, firearm counts, and violations of the street gang act. Their pleas were part of a negotiated deal that included their testimony against another individual.
