In the early morning hours of July 3, 2015, a heated argument in the parking lot of the Highland Lakes Apartments in Norcross, Georgia, ended in the tragic death of 29-year-old Lynett Karim. A 911 call reported a man and a woman fighting, a dispute that escalated to the sound of gunshots. When Gwinnett County police arrived at the scene, they discovered Karim inside her SUV, which had crashed into a tree. She had been fatally shot.
