In what was determined to be a murder-suicide, Lacresha Jalyn Day, a single mother of two from Seffner, Florida, was found deceased on October 17, 2019, in a hotel room in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Ms. Day was discovered alongside the body of Devin Shorter.
According to reports, Ms. Day, a nurse, was apparently in a relationship with Shorter, a fact that was unknown to her family. The investigation into their deaths concluded that Shorter was the suspect in Day's death, having killed her before taking his own life. As the sole suspect died at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with Ms. Day's death.
