In a quiet Norcross, Georgia subdivision, a grim discovery was made on the morning of January 25, 2016, beginning a tragic story of young lives cut short. A 19-year-old Black female, Angelique Aesha Bowman of Stone Mountain, was found deceased inside an SUV, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of the subdivision's clubhouse. Bowman and her boyfriend, 18-year-old Jaquille Thomas, had been reported as leaving for a quick errand the night before and were not residents of the neighborhood where their bodies were discovered.
The discovery of Bowman's body came approximately ninety minutes after surveyors working in the same subdivision found Thomas's body between two homes, also with gunshot wounds. The two scenes were about 200 yards apart. Investigators began the task of piecing together the events that led to the double homicide, initially uncertain of the relationship between the two victims or their reason for being in the subdivision. It was later confirmed that Bowman and Thomas were in a relationship.
A month after the bodies were found, an arrest was made in the case. Quintarious Walker, a 17-year-old from Tucker, was taken into custody and charged with one count of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the deaths of Bowman and Thomas. Authorities indicated that a statement from Walker helped to solidify the investigation, though a specific motive for the killings was still being explored. Police released surveillance video that reportedly showed Thomas walking a few steps behind the gunman, who was carrying a firearm, shortly before the murders. A few minutes later, the gunman was seen walking alone in the opposite direction from where Thomas's body was later found. At the time of Walker's arrest, police stated that they were not seeking any other suspects.
