In a tragic and sudden burst of violence on a November evening, 25-year-old Jack Myles lost his life. The young man was shot and killed on November 17, 2018, near the intersection of Austell and Pat Mell roads in Marietta, Georgia. When Cobb County police officers arrived at the scene around 6:20 p.m., they discovered Myles on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led police to identify a suspect, Cordale Dewayne Jefferson, 27, through surveillance footage from the area. Jefferson's distinctive facial tattoos, including the word 'BADAZZ' on his forehead and two teardrops under his left eye, played a significant role in his identification. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of murder and aggravated assault. According to arrest warrants, the shooting occurred after an argument between Jefferson and Myles, during which Jefferson allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Myles twice. Remarkably, before succumbing to his injuries, Myles reportedly informed police that Jefferson was the one who had pulled the trigger.
A few days after police publicly released his name and photograph, Jefferson turned himself in to the authorities. He was subsequently booked into the Cobb County jail. In February 2019, a Cobb County grand jury indicted Jefferson on multiple counts, including malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, ensuring he would face a trial for the death of Jack Myles.
