In the late hours of a cool November evening in Savannah, Georgia, the life of Gregory Jones, a 35-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. On November 26, 2018, at approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to a call on Augusta Avenue where they discovered Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Memorial Health University Medical Center, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
A native of Savannah, Gregory was a father to six daughters and
two sons. He was a business owner, operating Spotless Window Cleaning and Water World Carwash. Known affectionately by nicknames such as "Grandpa," "Fat Boi," and "DADDY," he was described as a very loving man with a big heart who enjoyed spending time with his family and listening to music.
The Savannah Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the shooting, which they have classified as a homicide. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, no arrests have been made in connection with Gregory Jones's death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains an open and ongoing investigation. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing a resolution to his family and the community.
