On the evening of April 24, 2019, a tragic event unfolded in Bonaire, Georgia, resulting in the death of 47-year-old Danny Ray Hicks, a Caucasian male. Hicks was visiting friends in Houston County and had gone with a female companion to check on a vacant residence. While there, they encountered a man who was trespassing on the property.
An altercation broke out between Hicks and the man, which escalated to the point of deadly violence.
The trespasser, later identified as Kevin Leonard Hobbs, 26, shot Hicks multiple times before fleeing the scene. The Houston County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene, and Hicks was pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly identified Hobbs as the primary suspect in the shooting. A manhunt was initiated, and on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Hobbs was located near Canion Place and Solomon Road in Kathleen. He was arrested without incident and taken into custody.
Kevin Leonard Hobbs was subsequently charged with the murder of Danny Ray Hicks. He was booked into the Houston County Detention Center, where he was held without bond. The case was then set to proceed through the judicial system.
