In a tragic turn of events that shattered a family's hope for a safer life, 11-year-old Elijah Munson, a Black male, was fatally shot in Riverdale, Georgia, on the evening of December 9, 2021. The Munson family had relocated to the Atlanta area from Chicago in an effort to escape the very gun violence that ultimately claimed young Elijah's life. He was a fifth-grader at Riverdale Elementary School who dreamed of one day becoming a professional football player.
