In the predawn hours of a late March Saturday in 2019, the quiet of a residential neighborhood in Thomson, Georgia, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Behind a home in the 200 block of Jones Road, 63-year-old Charles Willingham, a Black male, was shot. The Thomson Police Department received a call about the shooting at approximately 1:40 a.m. on March 30th and upon arrival, officers discovered Mr. Willingham’s body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
