In the early morning hours of July 18, 2018, the life of Stantavious LaVonse' Latimore, a 30-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. The Thomson Police Department responded to a call at approximately 7:45 a.m. regarding a shooting at a residence in the 800 block of Clements Street in Thomson, Georgia. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Latimore had been shot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist with the homicide investigation. Their preliminary findings pointed to Tobuyous Ramon Reynolds, a 36-year-old from the nearby town of Warrenton, as the individual who had traveled to the Clements Street home and shot Latimore. In the immediate aftermath, an arrest warrant for murder was issued for Reynolds, and he was considered to be armed and dangerous. A public appeal was made for any information regarding his whereabouts.
The search for Reynolds came to a close five days later. On Monday, July 23, 2018, Tobuyous Ramon Reynolds turned himself in to the Warrenton Police Department. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the McDuffie County Detention Center to face the murder charge for the death of Stantavious Latimore. The case was then expected to be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
