Therese Bradley Horton, a 43-year-old Black woman, was tragically killed on August 4, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia. The incident, which has been described as an act of intimate partner violence, took place outside of an entertainment complex. Horton was in a car with her girlfriend, 35-year-old Candace Morgan, when an argument broke out.
The dispute escalated, and Morgan allegedly fired a gun at Horton while they were still inside the vehicle.
Horton then exited the car and attempted to flee to the club's parking lot to find help. Morgan reportedly pursued her and continued to fire, shooting at her at least three times. Horton was struck in the back and arm and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Security guards at the location were able to quickly intervene and detain Morgan until the Atlanta police arrived. No one else was injured during the incident. Candace Morgan was subsequently arrested and is facing murder charges for the death of Therese Bradley Horton. She is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail as the investigation continues.
