In the early morning hours of August 27, 2024, a grim discovery was made in a west Phoenix alleyway that brought a violent end to the life of 53-year-old Jesse Mayo Benich. It was around 6:50 a.m. when Phoenix police officers responded to a call for a welfare check near 27th Avenue and Solano Drive. There, in the alley, they found the unresponsive body of an adult male, later identified as Benich. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
