In Fort Valley, Georgia, concern for a loved one led to a grim discovery on the evening of March 27, 2020. Family members of Fraddian Omar Robinson, a 38-year-old male, went to his residence on Big Six Farms Road to conduct a welfare check when they found him deceased inside. The Crawford County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene around 8:50 p.m. and, upon observing his injuries, requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to delve into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The investigation that followed quickly turned from a death investigation into a homicide case. An autopsy performed by a GBI Medical Examiner confirmed that Robinson's death was the result of a gunshot wound. Armed with this information, GBI agents and Crawford County investigators pursued leads that pointed them to another residence within the county. A search warrant was executed on March 28, where authorities collected numerous pieces of evidence that linked two individuals to the crime. The investigation suggested the motive was an armed robbery.
Based on the evidence gathered, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation secured arrest warrants on March 30, 2020, for 22-year-old Ryan Purser and 20-year-old Cidney Reason. Both were charged with a string of serious offenses, including Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.
In December 2021, the case against one of the accused came to a resolution. Ryan Purser appeared before a Macon Circuit judge and pleaded guilty to malice murder and armed robbery for his role in the death of Fraddian Omar Robinson. For these crimes, Purser was sentenced to life in prison for the murder, with an additional 20 years to be served for the armed robbery.
