Akiela Peters-Williams, a 20-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on March 27, 2020, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She was shot to death inside a DeKalb County motel room. The incident occurred in the presence of her 3-year-old daughter, who was found unharmed but understandably traumatized at the scene. The police were called to the motel around 6 p.m., where they discovered Akiela's lifeless body and her young daughter still in the room.
